Norfolk Girls League Under 12’s

Saturday 21st January

Sprowston 8v2 Scole Magpies.

Another cold blustery day, as Sprowston entertained old friends and rivals Scole Magpies. They had faced the other Scole side away the week before and struggled to a 3-1 win against a good side. They were in no mood to slip up against the sister side.

Sprowston were simply awesome in the opening quarter of the match. Crisp intelligent passing and sharp shooting. They were soon 2-0 up, but the away side were no mugs and refused to lay down. Their goal keeper was in fine form and some brave battling saw the visitors starting to come back. Sprowston made it 3-0 but their dominance was waning. A good break down the left followed by an excellent cross, was unfortunately diverted in

to her own goal as Scole made it 3-1. Sprowston were stung into action and scored a 4th before the end of the half.

Luck was against the visitors as the wind not only strengthened but chased direction slightly go assist the Sprowston team. Who took full advantage score twice more. The away side were keeping the host at bay.

The two goals of the game came near the end. Sprowston scored their 7th with a fine shot that somehow threaded its way past 3 defenders and keeper, who seemed to have it covered. Straight from kick off Scole pushed forward. Their central defender, had caught the eye with her powerful play. This time she stormed forward, half way up the pitch, slaloming past defenders before sending a sublime finish past the stranded keeper.

The two goals were a fitting finish to the match, however, from kick off Sprowston made it 8-2 with a scruffy finish.

A good entertaining game, Sprowston continue their march to the title, this was an impressive win.
