Cringleford C away
On a wet miserable evening, we made the long trip to Cringleford to take on their C team. This had been an unhappy hunting ground in the past and with our opponents having a 100% record, this didn’t look like changing. There were some familiar faces in the team, 2 players from their B team.
Rick and I made a good start, we had game points but failed to convert them. It was a long match with tight games and long rallies. A good standard of tennis in awful conditions. In the end, we had to settle for just 1 game, but we deserved more.
Next door, Nick and Mike kept up their good form against difficult opponents. We fell behind but started a comeback after a rain delay. Our plucky pair managed to win 4 games.
There was only going to be one winner of this match and we played fro pride. Nick and Mike battled away for a 4-12 defeat. Rick and i had a strange match. We trailed and were surprised we had won 2 more games than we though. We fought hard and won two more for 5-11.
A frustrating night. We have one more match to play at home to Fakenham. We look doomed but will go down fighting.
