Wymondham C home
The end of the season is rapidly approaching and we need wins to stay up. Wymondham C at home, was a crucial fixture. We were hit by call offs. Mary was unavailable and Tony injured. Mike played his first match of the season.
Rick and I may a good start leading 2-0 but it all unraveled from then on. We were pulled back to 2-2. I held serve but our opponents pulled away. We were in trouble and neither of us was playing well. We had to settle for a 5-11 defeat, disappointing.
Next door saw a real battle with Charles in good form. The rubber switched one way then the other. We went down 7-9. So we trailed 12-20
It was a different story for the 2nd rubbers. Rick and I were locked in a titanic struggle. We held the lead but were pegged back. Some terrific rallies followed as we started our come back. We had chances to win the rubber, but settled for 8-8
Nick and Mike were 2-2 but pulled away. The visitors had no answer to our attacking play. We won 14-2 and the match was ours, 34-30. A great comeback and a battling display.
